Somali Magazine – H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, has announced three projects targeted at alleviating the consequences of climate change and poverty in Jubbaland and Southwest States. The initiatives, known as XALDOON, NEGAAD, and SEPOW, aim to reduce the impact of climate-related difficulties on Somalia’s internally displaced people. The programs’ goals in these two regions are to promote sustainable solutions, climate adaption, and women’s engagement in socioeconomic development.

Prime Minister Barre emphasized the importance of these interventions for the affected communities during the launch ceremony in Kismayo, particularly in light of the country’s struggle with climate change-induced shocks that have severely weakened the Somali people’s ability to sustain their livelihoods.

The Prime Minister thanked the international development partners who helped fund these programs and emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for viable socioeconomic recovery through comprehensive climate change adaptation and sustainable development solutions.
