Somali Magazine – According to Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, who spoke at the Somali Blue Economy Investment Conference, more than 500,000 people have been displaced and more than 1 million people have been affected by flash floods across the country.

“There are mothers, children, and elderly on the streets tonight because of the heavy rains and they need immediate support because they live with all the diseases that come with the floods” , stated the prime minister.

The Prime Minister urged Somalis to assist their fellow Somalis who have been displaced and are in desperate need of shelter and other basic necessities.

Prime Minister Hamza also discussed investment and how the government is soliciting international investment to improve local production and eventually to self-sufficiency.

“Instability and internal conflicts will result in a failure to capitalize on local resources.” “The government recently approved a bill for foreign investment and wants international investors to come to Somalia and invest,” he continued.

Ministers from the Federal Government, Ministers of Fisheries from the Federal Member States of Somalia, Ambassadors, and other officials will attend the two-day summit.
