President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan was honored with a prestigious award by the national parliament on Saturday in a ceremony held in the capital city of Dodoma. The award, presented by Speaker of Parliament Tulia Ackson, recognized President Hassan’s exemplary leadership and her significant contributions to inclusive development and national progress since assuming office.
The special award was conferred on behalf of all Members of Parliament, symbolizing their unified appreciation for President Hassan’s vision and dedication. Speaker Ackson lauded the president for steering the country through a period of dynamic transformation and cited her impact across a broad spectrum of development sectors.
“Under President Hassan’s stewardship, Tanzania has undergone significant transformation,” Ackson declared during the presentation. She highlighted progress in a range of strategic areas, including education, healthcare, mining, tourism, agriculture, transport, energy, and international relations. Each sector, she said, had witnessed measurable improvements as a result of President Hassan’s forward-thinking policies and strong governance.
President Hassan, in her acceptance remarks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Tanzanian Parliament for its role in supporting and guiding the nation’s governance. She emphasized the importance of the parliament’s legislative oversight, budget approval, and policy recommendations, describing these mechanisms as crucial in helping the government fulfill its mandate and improve public service delivery.
The president also commended Tanzanian lawmakers for their dedication to representing their constituents with integrity and commitment. She acknowledged their efforts both inside the legislative chamber and within local communities, stressing the value of a responsive and accountable government built on collaboration and mutual respect between the executive and legislative arms.
President Hassan’s administration has earned both domestic and international recognition for its emphasis on inclusivity, economic empowerment, and infrastructural modernization. Her leadership has been marked by a drive to strengthen democratic institutions, expand access to education and healthcare, and attract investment in sectors critical to long-term growth.
As the first woman to hold the office of president in Tanzania, Hassan’s tenure has also inspired a broader cultural and political shift, emphasizing the role of women in leadership and national development. The honorary award thus not only recognizes her administrative achievements but also serves as a symbol of a changing Tanzania—one striving for greater unity, opportunity, and global engagement.
This parliamentary recognition comes at a time when Tanzania continues to push forward with its development agenda, with President Hassan at the helm of numerous flagship projects aimed at unlocking the country’s economic potential and improving the quality of life for all citizens.
Her steady leadership through complex challenges and her ability to unify various segments of society around a common vision for progress have earned her praise both within Tanzania and across Africa. The award from parliament stands as a formal acknowledgment of this impact and a reinforcement of the trust placed in her by the nation’s elected representatives.
