Security forces in central Somalia thwarted a major public safety threat on Thursday night after two suspected militants killed while planting landmines in Middle Shabelle region were confronted during an intelligence-led operation in Mahaday district. Armed police officers arrived at the market perimeter and engaged the suspects, shooting both individuals dead before they could detonate the devices.
