    Senegal and Morocco will meet in the final of the U-17 AFCON.

    On Friday, May 19, SENEGAL and Morocco will face off in the final of the current 2023 UN-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

    After winning their semi-final matches, the two teams qualified for the final.

    Senegal defeated Burkina Faso in a penalty shootout on Sunday, May 14, at the 19 May 1956 stadium in Annaba.

    After a 1-1 deadlock in regulation time, the game went to penalties.

    The Senegalese squad will compete in the final for the first time.

    In addition, following a 0-0 tie in regulation time, the second semi-finals match between Morocco and Mali was decided by a penalty shoot out.

    Morocco won the penalty shootout 6-5. Taha Benrhozil, the Moroccan goalie, was the hero, stopping three of eight penalties.

    Burkina Faso will face Mali in the third-place match on Thursday, May 18.

    The journey of Senegal reaching the final

    Senegal opened their campaign with a narrow victory over Congo in their first group encounter. They then defeated Algeria 3-0 before finishing with a 3-0 victory over Somalia.

    Senegal defeated South Africa 5-0 in the quarter-finals before defeating Burkina Faso on penalties 5-4.

    Morocco’s path to the final

    Morocco began the group round with a 2-0 win over South Africa before defeating Nigeria 1-0 in the second match.

    Morocco lost against Zambia in the third encounter but advanced to the knockout stage.

    Morocco overcame Algeria 3-0 in the quarter-finals before defeating Mali 6-5 on penalties to advance to the final.
