    Somali Foreign Minister attends the opening session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

    Abshir Omar Jama, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended the opening ceremony of the 77th United Nations General Assembly on Monday in New York.

    Representatives will debate food insecurity, high energy prices, global supply chain disruptions, unemployment, women’s empowerment, climate change, and education at the meeting.

    The meetings will continue from September 19 to September 25, with the theme “Solutions through Solidarity, Sustainability, and Science.”

    The Somali delegation attending the UN General Assembly will meet with several heads of state and foreign ministers, as well as representatives from international and regional organisations, on the sidelines.

    According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meetings will focus on strengthening Somalia’s relationships with international partners and organisations.
