    FM, Somali official discuss Security

    On the sidelines of the African Union’s 42nd Executive Council, Egypt’s Foreign Minister (FM), Sameh Shoukry, met with Mohamed El Amin Soueif, the African Union’s (AU) Special Envoy to Somalia and Chief of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

    Shoukry began the meeting by congratulating the African Union (AU) official on his new position, emphasizing Egypt’s full support for him and his mandate.

    Furthermore, FM emphasized the critical role of ATMIS in maintaining stability, particularly at this critical juncture before the mission’s departure from Somalia at the end of 2024, and in view of Egypt’s priority for consolidating and enhancing peace and security on the African continent.

    Furthermore, Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s successful experience in eliminating terrorism, which was based on a comprehensive approach that includes economic, developmental, social, and intellectual dimensions, emphasizing that Egypt is fully prepared to share its experiences with the African mission in this regard.
