Dominik Szoboszlai, the captain of Hungary, was added to Liverpool’s midfield on Sunday.

Liverpool FC announced that it had finalised the work-permit-required acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.

Szoboszlai, 22, follows Argentine midfielder Alexis MacAllister as Liverpool’s second acquisition of the summer transfer season.

The Hungarian offensive midfielder has passed a medical exam to join Liverpool, according to the Reds.

Szoboszlai stated in a statement, “I’m here, I’m happy, and I can’t wait to get started.”

“(A) wonderfully storied club, excellent players, excellent coach, all good. Making the next move at such a club was ideal for me. Everything is great—the spectators, the stadium, everything,” he continued.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Szoboszlai had previously played for the German club RB Leipzig and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg.

In 2018–2021, he won four Austrian league championships.

Szoboszlai assisted RB Leipzig in their 2022 and 2023 German Cup victories.

He played 91 games for RB Leipzig, tallying 20 goals and 22 assists.

His 32 appearances resulted in seven goals for Hungary.
