On Tuesday, Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), the Speaker of Somalia’s Lower House of Parliament, met with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador, Amb. Ahmed Bin Mohamed, at his office.

With the election of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as Somalia’s president in mid-May, the affluent Gulf nation’s activities in the country has been re-energized in recent weeks. President Mohamud, according to sources, is eager to repair the damage created by his predecessor, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who formed a strong partnership with Qatar while declaring neutrality during the 2017 Gulf Crisis.
In January 2021, the Gulf monarchies brokered a peace deal to resolve the crisis and end the blockade of Qatar.
