The United Nations and the West have been watching Israeli crimes in Gaza for 140 days: Turkish President Erdogan

Somali Magazine – On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blasted the UN and Western countries for “just watching the humanitarian crimes” committed by Israel in Gaza during the last 140 days.

“So much so that the UN Security Council does not and cannot call for an immediate cease-fire,” Erdogan lamented during a meeting of Turkey’s Justice and Development (AK) Party in the northwestern region of Sakarya.

“Neither Western powers or the UN Security Council have made a useful effort to prevent Israeli violence,” he went on to say.

Israel has bombed the Gaza Strip since Hamas’ cross-border raid, which Tel Aviv claims killed almost 1,200 Palestinians.

According to the United Nations, the Israeli war on Gaza has forced 85% of the territory’s inhabitants into internal displacement due to acute shortages of food, clean water, and medication, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

For the first time since its inception in 1948, Israel is accused of genocide by the International Court of Justice, the United Nations’ highest legal authority, over its Gaza conflict.

An interim verdict issued in January ordered Tel Aviv to halt genocidal acts and take steps to ensure that residents in Gaza get humanitarian aid.
