    Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of Nigeria’s ruling party, has been named the winner of the country’s presidential elections.

    According to Mahmood Yakubu, head of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, received 8.7 million votes in the race held on February 25-26. (INEC).

    Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 6.9 million votes, while Peter Obi of the Labor Party (LP) received 6.1 million.

    In Nigeria, which has a population of about 206 million people, 18 candidates ran for president.
