    Prime Minister Barre meets with the UAE Envoy to Somalia to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and counterterrorism measures.

    On Monday, Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with the UAE’s Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi.

     

    The two officials discussed a variety of matters that were advantageous to both parties, including the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

    Prime Minister Barre emphasized the importance of closer cooperation between Somalia and the UAE in the areas of security, economy, and national development.

    Hd emphasized his administration’s unflinching commitment to combating the Al-Shabab insurgent group, which has been disrupting the Horn of Africa Nation for decades.

    The Prime Minister commended the United Arab Emirates for its unwavering support for the Somali National Army, stating that such help was critical in eradicating the Islamist rebels from several vital locations.

    Ambassador Al-Rumaithi emphasized the UAE government’s continued support for Somalia on a variety of fronts, especially in state-building processes, economic and security reforms, and counterterrorism efforts.

    The United Arab Emirates helps Somalia in a variety of ways, including military training, humanitarian aid, and institutional development.
