    – The Hir-Shabelle and South West states have protested the Federal Indirect Elections Team’s (9FIET) decision to exclude four of their elected members of parliament from the final list.

President Ali Gudlawe of HirShabelle and his South West counterpart Abdiasis Lafta Gareen both issued statements saying that FIET chairman Muse Yusuf’s decision to lock out their respective MPs-elect was illegal and a violation of electoral rules.
“The HOP086 seat has completed all election procedures, and we have received no complaints from either the community that owns the seat or the candidates who ran for it,” Gudlawe said in a statement.

National Security Advisor Fahad Yasin, who was elected under seat 86, was left off Muse’s Hir-Shabelle list, which was made public on Thursday.

The South West was the hardest hit, with three seats missing. Former Lower House speaker Mohamed Jawari ran for the seat of South West defence minister Abdikadir Mohamed Nur (Jama), but was defeated by security minister Issack Ali Subag. Seat 204, won by Sareedo Mohamed Abdalla against Fardawso Ibrahim Abdi, was also left out.

The leaders of the South West and Hir-Shabelle pledged not to participate in the swearing-in of MPs and urged lawmakers from their states not to do so. However, one MP-elect, former security minister Abdirizak Mohamed of Hir-Shabelle, defied the state president’s position and picked up his certificate on Saturday morning.
