According to an official, at least 14 people were murdered in the latest attack blamed on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday.
According to Sabiti Njiamoja, the incident took place at Otomabere, in the region of Irumu in Ituri province.
“The casualties came from a variety of localities near Otomabere, including two students,” Njiamoja said. “There are four victims from Eringeti, three from Mayimoya, and others from Oicha, the capital of Beni’s area.”
Before fleeing, the perpetrators set fire to 13 motorcycles and several homes, he claimed.
Last year, Ugandan and DRC forces (FARDC) launched an offensive to clear out the ADF, who had been targeting and killing civilians in the east for more than two decades.
