Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan has signed a contract extension with Barcelona until June 30, 2025, the Spanish club announced on Monday.
The deal for the 32-year-old includes a one-year extension option and a €400 million buyout clause.
The transfer ends “a hugely successful seven-year stay,” according to the English club.
“For me, it has been a total privilege and pleasure to be a part of Manchester City for the last seven years,” Gundogan said of his time with the Citizens. “Manchester has been my home, and I have felt part of a very special family at City.”
“I’d like to thank Pep.” “I will never forget being able to play under and learn from him for so long,” he remarked of his former boss, Josep Guardiola, who is also a Barcelona great.
Gundogan, who joined Manchester City in July 2016 from Borussia Dortmund, has 60 goals in 304 appearances for the Citizens.
During his career at Manchester United, he won the UEFA Champions League in 2023, five English Premier League crowns, and two FA Cups.
