The club president stated on Wednesday that the club has chosen Spain’s Luis Enrique as manager for the next two seasons.
In a press conference, Qatari billionaire and PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi unveiled the senior team’s new head coach Luis Enrique, who has pledged to lead PSG until 2025.
PSG fired Christophe Galtier earlier Wednesday, after he led the club to the French Ligue 1 and French Super Cup wins in a single season.
Luis Enrique praised PSG and Al-Khelaifi, as well as the club’s sporting director, for their trust in him.
“I am thrilled to be here (at PSG), and I hope to repay everyone’s faith (by winning important titles).” “I don’t speak French, but I’m starting to learn,” Luis Enrique stated, adding that he is excited to demonstrate his head coaching abilities at PSG.
The former Barcelona head coach indicated that he is “committed” to building an offensive squad and that he is confident of accomplishing this goal. “I believe we will entertain the PSG fans,” he continued.
PSG is one of Europe’s most dominant teams, although they have yet to win the UEFA Champions League.
Former Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Spain player Luis Enrique has managed Roma, Barcelona, and the Spanish national team.
He led Barcelona to the 2015 Champions League victory and back-to-back Spanish La Liga victories in 2015 and 2016. At Barcelona, Luis Enrique also won two Spanish Cups.
The seasoned head coach was most recently in charge of the Spanish national team for the EURO 2020 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
