    The US Embassy in Mogadishu met with renowned Somali leaders, including former Prime Minister Omar Sharmarke and former Puntland President Abdiweli Gas, to address crucial concerns confronting Somalia.

    According to an Embassy statement, the conference focused on the ongoing war against terrorism in Somalia, an appraisal of the country’s complicated political situation, and the urgent need for continuous engagement, particularly in the Puntland area.

    The US delegation reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s security and peace by stepping up collaboration on counterterrorism operations and good governance practises. They emphasized the significance of strong collaboration between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Federal Member States.

    Former Prime Minister Sharmarke stated that these sessions enable for candid conversations about Somalia’s difficulties and prospects as it sets its future political trajectory.

    The United States Embassy in Mogadishu expressed gratitude for the ideas given during this fruitful meeting. Additional high-level meetings are planned in the following months.
