Israel’s embassies will be on high alert around the world following the deaths of seven Iranian military advisers in a suspected Israeli bombing on Iran’s embassy in Syria’s capital Monday.
According to Israeli public television KAN, the embassies were already on high alert, but will strengthen it in light of the attack in Damascus.
Iran has accused Israel of carrying out the airstrike on the Iranian consulate building next to the Iranian embassy in Damascus, which killed two Iranian generals and five officers from the country’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including Gen. Mohammed Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.
Iran’s Ambassador to Syria, Hossein Akbari, stated that the building was targeted by F-35 fighter jets, which unleashed six missiles.
Akbari claimed the strike violated all international agreements and promised a “decisive response.”
The strike occurred amid rising regional tensions over Israel’s ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 32,800 Palestinians and caused a significant humanitarian crisis.
