On Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wished everyone a peaceful Eid al-Adha and peace throughout Turkey and the wider cultural area.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate our nation and the Islamic world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha,” he said on X.
“I hope that this holiday brings peace to our hearts, tranquility to our country, and peace to our spiritual geography, especially Palestine and Sudan,” he said.
The prophet Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son at God’s direction, and this is remembered on the Muslim festival known as Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.
