Qatar Charity has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Ministry of Health in Galmudug, Somalia, to establish and equip four new health centers in the region, significantly enhancing access to quality healthcare services for vulnerable communities.
The agreement was signed by Abdul Fattah Adam Maalim, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Somalia, and Dr. Abdulwali Abdullah Jama, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare for Galmudug. Both parties praised the collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the health sector and the Somali population.
Abdul Fattah Adam Maalim expressed Qatar Charity’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s development efforts, particularly in the healthcare sector. He highlighted the importance of the initiative as part of a broader mission to contribute to sustainable development in Somalia, stating that the new centers would provide essential medical care to underserved communities across Galmudug.
Dr. Jama echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude to Qatar Charity for its continued investment in Somalia’s health infrastructure. He emphasized the critical role Qatari donors have played in supporting health services across the country and highlighted how this initiative aligns with the Somali government’s national health strategy.
Currently, Qatar Charity operates the Tarkinely Health Center in the Kowajdi area, serving approximately 30,000 people from vulnerable communities with comprehensive medical care. The expansion of four additional centers aims to replicate this success, ensuring more citizens have access to vital health services.
Dr. Abdulrahman Abdullah, Health Officer for the Benadir region, further underscored the importance of this collaboration, stressing how partnerships between humanitarian organizations and government institutions can drive national health improvements. He noted that the new health centers would contribute significantly to improving national health outcomes and strengthening sustainable healthcare development.
The agreement not only marks a step forward in Qatar Charity’s ongoing humanitarian efforts but also reflects its broader focus on sustainable solutions for community development. The initiative will include the provision of modern medical equipment, staff training, and community outreach programs to raise awareness about preventive healthcare practices.
Qatar Charity has a long history of supporting humanitarian projects in Somalia, including education, emergency relief, and livelihood support programs. This latest agreement further cements its position as a key partner in the country’s development landscape.
The expansion of health services in Galmudug is expected to have a lasting impact on the region, particularly for mothers, children, and individuals in remote areas who often face challenges accessing medical care. The project also highlights the importance of international cooperation and solidarity in addressing public health challenges in developing nations.
Qatar Charity and the Ministry of Health in Galmudug have both pledged to continue their collaboration, emphasizing the need for sustained investment in health infrastructure and capacity-building initiatives. They also called on other humanitarian organizations and donors to join efforts in supporting Somalia’s healthcare development goals.
This partnership reflects Qatar’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid and sustainable development in Africa, aligning with its broader global initiatives to support vulnerable communities and promote long-term progress.
