Authorities vow to strengthen security and bring criminals to justice following a series of arrests linked to theft, murder, and organized crime.

Somali police recently carried out several operations in Mogadishu’s Hodan and Hamar Jajab districts, leading to the arrest of multiple people suspected of being involved in serious crimes like theft and murder.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Somali Police Spokesperson Abdifitah Aden confirmed that the police had captured several suspects linked to different criminal activities. Among those arrested were three men who had been fighting over how to split up stolen items, such as mobile phones. Their argument drew attention and led to their arrest.

The police said these three suspects had a history of committing crimes and had been arrested in the past. However, they were released on parole and unfortunately went back to their old ways. “These people have returned to committing crimes like looting and even killing innocent people,” Spokesperson Abdifitah said.

In another major case, the police arrested five people suspected of being involved in the killing of Colonel Abdulkadir Hussein Cigaal. The Colonel’s body had been burned, likely in an attempt to destroy evidence and make it harder for investigators to figure out what happened. Police believe these five suspects played a role in his brutal death.

The spokesperson also talked about another case in which police arrested the person who murdered Feisal Abdullahi Takar. In addition to the main suspect, two other people who helped in the crime were also taken into custody.

Spokesperson Abdifitah spoke out strongly against a growing problem in Somalia — the practice of releasing criminals through informal community or clan-based agreements. He warned that this makes it difficult for law enforcement to do their job and puts the public at risk.

“Anyone who kills another person in Mogadishu must go through the country’s legal system,” he said. “They should not be freed by clan elders or community deals.”

He urged Somali citizens to support the justice system and not to interfere with police efforts by helping criminals escape punishment through non-legal methods. Abdifitah said that such actions only make the situation worse by allowing dangerous individuals to roam free and continue harming innocent people.

The Somali Police Force promised to keep working hard to improve safety in Mogadishu. They plan to increase their operations in areas with high crime rates and track down more suspects involved in criminal activities. According to the police, their goal is to make the capital a safer place for everyone.

Authorities are asking the public to cooperate with the police by reporting any suspicious behavior or crimes they witness. The police stressed that community support is crucial in identifying and arresting those who pose a danger to society.

In conclusion, the Somali Police Force is taking strong action against crime in Mogadishu. They’ve arrested several suspects linked to theft and murder, including those involved in the deaths of two well-known individuals. The police are calling for justice to be served through proper legal channels and are warning against the dangerous trend of letting criminals go free through traditional or clan-based agreements. Their message is clear: No one is above the law, and the safety of the Somali people must come first.
