Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre calls for increased vigilance as security forces intensify operations against Al-Shabaab militants

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre led a crucial security meeting on Sunday to discuss ways to improve safety in Mogadishu and surrounding areas, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. The government is taking extra precautions to prevent potential threats and ensure stability during this important time.

During the meeting, security officials provided updates on their efforts to keep the capital and nearby regions safe. They talked about the need for better coordination between law enforcement and the public. The goal is to make sure residents feel secure and to prevent any attacks that could disrupt daily life.

The Prime Minister praised the security forces for their dedication and hard work in protecting the city. He also directed them, along with the Banadir regional administration, to step up their operations. While he acknowledged that militant groups like Al-Shabaab are weakening, he stressed the importance of staying alert and not underestimating the threats they still pose.

Despite the government’s efforts, Al-Shabaab, a militant group linked to Al-Qaeda, has been increasing its attacks on government forces, especially in the Middle Shabelle region. Since the beginning of Ramadan, the group has launched several assaults on strategic locations.

One of their recent attacks targeted Bal’ad, a key town near Mogadishu. They also carried out an offensive in Biya Adde, another area in Middle Shabelle. These attacks show that the militants are still active and trying to destabilize the region.

In response to these attacks, Somali government forces, with help from international allies, launched airstrikes in Middle Shabelle. According to the Ministry of Information, these airstrikes killed at least 44 Al-Shabaab fighters, including some of their senior commanders. The strikes took place in Biyo Cadde, an area where militants were retreating after suffering heavy losses in battles against government-aligned local militias.

Security officials reported that the airstrikes also destroyed three armed vehicles used by the insurgents. This was a major victory for the Somali government as it continues its campaign to eliminate extremist threats in the country.

The Somali government has reassured its citizens that it is fully committed to protecting them, especially during Ramadan. Authorities understand that this is a time when people should be able to observe their religious practices in peace, without fear of violence.

Security forces are working hard to prevent any disruptions, and the government is urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. Officials believe that the continued efforts to fight Al-Shabaab and improve security will bring long-term stability to Somalia.

The situation in Somalia remains tense, but the government is determined to stay ahead of threats posed by extremist groups. The recent security meeting chaired by Prime Minister Barre shows the leadership’s dedication to maintaining peace and order.

While Al-Shabaab continues to launch attacks, the government’s swift response with airstrikes and military operations proves that security forces are prepared to counter any threats. The authorities have also emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities to help prevent future attacks.

As Ramadan continues, the government is urging the Somali people to stay strong and united. Security forces will remain on high alert to ensure that everyone can observe the holy month in safety. By working together, Somalia hopes to defeat the militants and move toward a more peaceful and secure future.
