A London court heard that a man on trial for the murder of UK legislator David Amess had planned further attacks, including one on cabinet minister Michael Gove.
Ali Harbi Ali, a British citizen and the son of a top media adviser to Somalia’s former prime minister, is accused of murder and plotting terrorist actions.
Ali had spent years plotting an attack, according to prosecutors, and had previously conducted reconnaissance on Gove and Conservative MP Mike Freer.
Against the first day of the trial, Tom Little, a prosecutor, informed the court that Ali “studied and plotted prospective attacks on Members of Parliament and the Houses of Parliament.”
“This included specific reconnaissance trips to Mike Freer’s constituency surgery and to the White House.”
