Following the announcement of Deputy President William Ruto as the victor of the General Election last week, congratulations have not stopped coming in from all over the world.

A few politicians used social media shortly after the announcement to wish Dr. Ruto well.

“My congratulations to William Ruto on your election as President of the Republic of Kenya,” wrote Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. We look forward to cooperating closely with you on shared bilateral and regional interests, and I wish you luck in your future endeavours.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, the president of Zimbabwe, voiced confidence in Ruto as a capable leader.

“William Ruto has been chosen to serve as Kenya’s next president. He will serve his nation, his people, and our continent with distinction, I have no doubt about that.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia also sent a message to the nation, pledging his support for Dr. Ruto.

“Warmly congratulates Kenya’s new president-elect William Samoei Ruto on his victory in the election. The president is eager to collaborate with William Ruto to strengthen bilateral ties and advance collaboration between Somalia and Kenya.

Mohamed Farmaajo, the former leader of Somalia, also issued a statement praising the president-elect.

“Following the successful conclusion of the elections, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Kenya and the president-elect William Ruto. You actually conducted a powerful, enlightening campaign, and may God grant you success in realising your goals for the nation,” he concluded.

Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, said:

“I extend my heartfelt greetings to Kenyan President-Elect William Ruto. An essential prerequisite for and contributor to a prosperous and peaceful continent is a united and wealthy Kenya. We are eager to collaborate with you in the pursuit of the Africa we desire.

Dr. Ruto was wished “a good inauguration and time in office, while also looking forward to more fruitful and robust engagements,” by the head of state of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

Ahmed Sheikh Mohammed, the first president of the Jubaland State of Somalia, and Abdiaziz Mohammed, the leader of the South West State of Somalia, are among those who also extended greetings.

“I congratulate William Ruto, the newly elected president of Kenya, on his victory in the just-concluded election. I send my best wishes for a peaceful and successful future to the people of Kenya,” Sheikh Mohammed stated.

Kenya is “a neighbour and a vital partner for Somalia,” according to Abdiaziz.
