As part of the Grain from Ukraine program, the ship Neva transported 25,000 tonnes of food wheat to Somalia.
According to Ukrinform, the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development stated this in a Facebook post.
“We are confident that this shipment of Ukrainian grain will mark a new milestone in long-term cooperation and the battle against the causes of food shortages. This is our contribution to restoring a secure and stable future “Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development, stated.
He also stated that the bulk carrier Neva left Odesa on December 9. Cargo logistics costs were funded by the governments of Finland, France, and Japan. This is the second shipment of Ukrainian wheat to Somalia. As part of the “grain initiative,” a ship carrying 28,500 tonnes of wheat left the Pivdennyi port in the autumn.
According to reports, Ukraine’s President began the Grain from Ukraine program. It calls for partner countries to purchase Ukrainian grain and distribute it to countries experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe. Under the aegis of the United Nations, the initiative is executed in collaboration with the World Food Program.
