    Diriye campaigns for her seat

    Somali Aid Minister Khadijo Mohamed Diriye praised President Farmajo’s government for holding foreign diplomats working inside Somalia o account, and said her 21 years as a member of parliament in Somalia is now the best in the country.

    “From now on, I will follow the example of US President Joe Biden, who has been aspiring to lead the United States for many years. Since I have been in office for 21 years, I want to compete with world leaders,” said Khadija Diriye.

    Khadijo Diriye made the remarks at a meeting with members of her community, saying her community had trusted her and put her forward to represent and lead them” according to her statement.

    “My community today entrusted me a with a seat in parliament, this a golden opportunity for my community. My Yahar community does not discriminate against me. If the process is written by one faction, I am confident they will  choose Khadija. I trust them, even if they are not my sub-clan,” said Khadija Diriye.

    Lawmaker Khadijo Diriye, who has served in the last five parliaments and has been in office for the past 21 years, is now facing a tough challenge, after a scholar named Barlin Bin ran for her seat.

    Khadijo Diriye has appeared in public several times in recent days, working hard to advance her political ambitions.

    A few days ago, she invited the Ugas of the Mudulod clan, Ugas Mohamud Ali Ugas, to her house, and reportedly asked him to talk to her and exclude the woman who was running for her seat in the election.  Yahar is a sub-clan of the bigger Mudulod clan.
