Dhuusamareeb – The Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia today launched a consultative meeting in Dhusamareb on the preparation of a 2021-2022 Solution Strategic Action Plan for the Galmudug State.
The conference was attended by the Minister of Planning of Galmudug, Mr. Abdinasir Elmi Geele, the Director-General, the Director of the Office of the Solution for the Ministry of National Planning, some heads of ministries of the Galmudug state, and experts from the Ministry of Planning from the Federal Government of Somalia.
The consultation is expected to last for three days, which will work in consultation with the Ministries of Commerce, Civil Society Organizations, IDPs affected and agencies working in this area in Galmudug.
Ms. Zahra Abdi highlighted the importance of this consultation
Director Zahra stated “It is time for the Galmudug state to take a strong stance on implementing the Strategic Solution (2021-2022). Through the preparation of the 2021-2022 action plan for the Galmudug State, which will go a long way in finding lasting solutions for IDPs, refugees, and returnees in the Galmudug State. ” emphasizes the need for Galmudug to take initiative and ownership of this endeavor
Galmudug State Minister of Planning Abdinasur Elmi Guelleh said it is important to prepare a plan for action 2021-2022 for the Galmudug State Sustainable Solution Strategy.
The regional Planning Minister explained that this would be a new initiative for the State of Galmudug stating “I did not think before to develop a strategy to deal with the situation of IDPs and refugees, but now, thank God, the Ministry of Planning’s Office for Sustainable Solutions has developed a strategy for 2021-2022 to address the situation of IDPs, refugees, and people.” returning from abroad,”
Finally, the consultative meeting is expected to produce a Galmudug State Action Plan focusing on IDPs and Refugees in line with the National Sustainable Solution Strategy.
This comes at a time when Galmudug State is at a cross-road with the recent fight against Al Shabaab militants and the current tensions in Guri’el against Alhu Sunna.
IGAD Social Development Division, through the World Bank-funded Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (DRDIP) with the leadership of DSU MoPIED, is facilitating coordination of the Implementation plans for the National Durable Solutions Strategy for the five Federal Member States and Banadir Regional State.
The final output is to develop priorities and implementation plans of each member state to guide the effective implementation of the National Durable Solutions Strategy and familiarizing the NDSS to the local level. This intervention will enhance coordination capacity for area-based development among Durable solutions actors.
