    – On Thursday, a landmine explosion occurred close to Sul Alle village in the Luuq district, killing the chief of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in the Gedo area.

When an IED was planted on the road, Abdirahman Abdullahi (Bakal Kooke), driving toward the Dolow district, hit it.

The blast critically injured six people from Abdullahi’s security team, including the driver.

The murder has been attributed to the militant insurgency group Al Shabaab.

Authorities in Jubbaland announced the start of an investigation into the slaying and promised to hold those responsible accountable.

Kooke passed only a few weeks after the Ethiopian government arranged for him to meet with Ahmed Buule, the governor of the Gedo region, in Dolow town to talk about the region’s leadership crisis and tax distribution.
