About 50 persons were feared to have suffered cardiac arrests as a result of the tragedy, local media reported earlier. To help the injured, more than 140 first-aid trucks had been dispatched to the area.
According to fire authorities, who were cited by the South Korean news outlet Yonhap, at least 149 people—including two foreigners—had been confirmed deceased and 76 others—including 19 seriously injured—had also been hurt. The death toll might increase further.
