    In Kismayo, Jubaland elects the final two MPs.

    Somali Magazine – Jubaland state MPs completed the election of the last two seats in Kismayo today, leaving 16 seats in Gerbaharey to be filled.

    After his challenger, Mohamud Ahmed Hassan, withdrew from the election in the first seat, Mohamed Hassan Aden won the seat. Roodo Arab Ali, the state’s new MP, defeated her opponent Fadumo Abdi Ali by 78 votes in the second seat.

    That week, the State Indirect Elections Team (SIET) declared that elections in Gerbaharey will take place in two weeks, but did not specify the dates.

    Meanwhile, in Beletweyne, HirShabelle state is electing two more MPs today, bringing the election to a close. In Jowhar, ten seats are still available.
    The only states that have not completed the parliamentary procedure are HirShabelle and Jubaland.
