Mogadishu, Somalia – On Sunday, Somali Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Duran Ahmed Farah presided over a conference to discuss improving security at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport.
Top officials from the transport ministry, including the Deputy Minister and Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, the airport manager, and the Director of the Immigration Agency, were present at the meeting.
To the transport minister, the heads of numerous departments submitted their reports.
The conference took place roughly two weeks after Al-Shabaab militants killed seven people in a daring attack on Mogadishu’s strongly defended airport complex. On the same day, 48 people were killed in a second incident in Beledweyne, including vocal opposition MP Amina Mohamed Abdi.
Minister Faran concluded the meeting by giving security agencies instructions.to strengthen airport security and the surrounding perimeter.
