Somali Magazine  — Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Adviser at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), inaugurated on Monday the second phase of the emergency intervention to provide relief to the Somali people in order to help reduce the effects of drought and famine that the Republic of Somalia is currently experiencing.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah explained that the first phase provided SR27 million to address the famine and limit its effects, based on Saudi Arabia’s commitment to stand with affected peoples in need of great humanitarian aid, and in continuation of KSrelief’s role in preventing the spread of famine in Somalia, which led to population displacement due to drought and severe food shortages.

He stated that, in accordance with the directives of the Kingdom’s leadership to stand with the needy and affected countries, we are launching the second phase of urgent intervention to contribute to covering the humanitarian needs of people affected by drought in Somalia, with SR 47,214,000 to support food and nutrition programmes for children, water and shelter provision for displaced people, and emergency programmes to save lives.

These initiatives are consistent with the Kingdom’s assistance to countries and peoples affected by disasters and humanitarian crises. It demonstrates the concern shown by King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the Crown Prince for noble humanitarian action and the relief of suffering countries and peoples.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all contributors and supporters, requesting that Allah Almighty bless them and safeguard our country, its leadership, and its people. — SPA
