Today, key roads in Mogadishu, including the Zoobe-Km 4 stretch, the routes leading to Medina Hospital, and the path to Bula Hubey, were temporarily shut down. The closures impacted the city’s morning commute, with residents diverting to side streets and navigating parts of the city on foot. The closures were set up in coordination with a high-profile mourning event commemorating the victims of the 2022 twin blasts at Zoobe intersection.

    Traffic Challenges for Mogadishu Drivers

With many of Mogadishu’s major arteries shut down, local drivers, especially Bajaj (tuk-tuk) operators, faced challenges to their livelihoods. Speaking to Radio Shabelle, some drivers expressed frustration at the lack of advance notice from authorities, noting that sudden closures disrupt their income and mobility. They urged officials to improve communication and coordinate traffic management more efficiently.
