The killing of the NISA’s Gedo region commander on Thursday night was to be looked into, according to Mahad Mohamed Salad, the commander of the Somali National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA).
In the Gedo region, Abdirahman Abdullahi (Bakal Kooke) was driving when his car collided with an IED that had been placed on the road.
The blast critically injured six people from Abdullahi’s security team, including the driver.
According to the NISA Commander, “Bakal was slain for standing up for the truth and sacrificing his life to rescuing the country from the militant group al Shabab.”
Kooke’s death, he said, would only increase the commitment of officers defending the nation, not weaken it, would not interfere with the ongoing efforts to destroy Al-Shabaab.
Authorities in Jubbaland announced the start of an investigation into the slaying and promised to hold those responsible accountable.
In September, a roadside bomb strike near the Bal’ad area, 35 kilometers north of Mogadishu, claimed the life of Farhan Mohamoud Adan, the police commissioner of Mogadishu. The assault took place when security operations were focused on the Middle Shabelle region around Basra.
Both senior officers were killed in the Gedo and Middle Shabelle districts, according to Al Shabab terrorists.
