According to local media on Sunday, German supermarket Aldi Nord would boost its prices by 20 to 50 percent as a result of rising production expenses.

Meat, sausage products, and butter will be “much more expensive” starting Monday, according to a business spokesman who said that the price increases were required owing to rising manufacturing expenses.

“Since the start of the Ukrainian conflict, we’ve seen increases in buying costs that we’ve never seen before,” said spokesman Florian Scholbeck.

Meanwhile, the German Retail Federation (HDE) has warned that due to the effects of Russia’s assault on Ukraine, price spikes are likely to continue in the next days in practically all supermarkets.
