Mogadishu, SOMALI MAGAZINE On Europe Day, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed his sincere thanks to the European Union for its unwavering support of Somalia. The President emphasized Somalia’s commitment to respect democratic principles, improve ties, and promote growth through a deeper partnership with the EU during a commemorative ceremony.
The government’s will to set up responsible institutions and move on with holding direct national elections was reiterated by President Mohamud. He emphasized the need of a coordinated effort to intensify the conflict with the extremist Al-Shabaab organization and the need for a clear plan to transfer additional security duties to Somali troops.
In his statement, the president of Somalia reaffirmed his country’s resolve to strengthen its democratic foundations and protect the safety and security of its people, with the EU serving as a vital ally in these efforts.
