– Following his election victory on Monday, Kenyan President-elect William Ruto received congratulations from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
President Hassan stated in a tweet, “The President looks forward to working with Ruto towards better bilateral relations and deeper cooperation between Somalia and Kenya.”
Following the successful conclusion of the elections, former president of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo also thanked William Ruto, the people of Kenya, and the Kenyan electorate.
“You truly ran an enriching, overpowering campaign, and May God help you fulfill your vision for your country,” he added.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate won with 7,176,141 votes (50.49 percent), defeating Raila Odinga of Azimio, who received 6,942,930 votes (48.85 percent).
