The Somali government has strongly condemned a missile strike launched by Iran against the State of Qatar on Monday night. In a statement released shortly after the incident, Somalia called the attack a clear violation of international law and a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.

The missile strike, which reportedly targeted U.S. military bases in Qatar, was described by Iran as an act of retaliation. However, the Somali government criticized the move and stood in full support of Qatar, calling for calm and urging respect for the sovereignty of all nations.

In its official statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the situation. The government emphasized that such actions risk escalating tensions in an already fragile region.

“Somalia stands with the government and people of Qatar,” the statement read. “We fully support their sovereignty, safety, and the protection of their territory.”

Somalia also reaffirmed its commitment to international rules and norms. The government emphasized the importance of solving conflicts through peaceful means, such as dialogue and negotiation, rather than through violence or military aggression.

“Somalia believes in a world where problems between countries are solved by talking, not by fighting,” the statement added. “We respect national borders and believe every country has the right to be safe from outside attacks.”

Somalia’s response comes at a time of growing concern in the Middle East, where political tensions and armed conflict have been on the rise. The missile attack adds to fears that more countries may get drawn into ongoing disputes involving Iran, the United States, and their regional allies.

Although Iran said the missile launch was in response to certain actions, details about the damage caused or possible casualties have not yet been confirmed by independent sources. Qatar, home to major U.S. military installations, has not released a detailed public response to the strike.

Somalia’s foreign ministry urged all parties involved to show restraint and avoid actions that could lead to more violence. The government called on the international community to step in and help de-escalate the situation.

“This is a time for wise decisions and cooperation,” the ministry stated. “The world must work together to protect peace and prevent conflict.”

The Somali government also warned that continued attacks or military confrontations could have far-reaching consequences beyond the immediate region. It stressed the need for all nations to act responsibly and in accordance with international law.

Somalia’s stance reflects its broader foreign policy goals, which prioritize peace, diplomacy, and mutual respect between nations. As a country recovering from its own challenges, Somalia has consistently supported global efforts to resolve disputes through peaceful dialogue rather than war.

The statement concluded with a renewed call for international unity in defending the rights and security of nations, regardless of their size or power.

“No country should live in fear of being attacked,” Somalia said. “We must all stand together to protect peace and uphold the principles that make our world safer.”

As of now, there has been no official reaction from Iran regarding Somalia’s condemnation, and it remains to be seen how this latest development will affect diplomatic relations in the Gulf region.
