Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) reported the arrest of an Al-Shabaab affiliate allegedly involved in the October 26 fatal shooting of two civilians in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley District. NISA identified the suspect as Abdisamad Ahmed Osman, accused of assisting the gunmen by transporting them to the scene via a Bajaj motorcycle.
The attack targeted Mahamed Omar Nur, the director of the Al-Ansaar Center, who was fatally shot inside the facility. Musab Dahir Hussein, a student capturing footage outside, was also killed in the assault.
NISA Commits to Pursue Remaining Suspects
According to the agency, it is actively pursuing other suspects involved in the crime to bring all responsible parties to justice. This arrest highlights the agency’s intensified collaboration with other Somali security units in a series of coordinated operations aimed at disrupting extremist cells that threaten community stability.
Government and NISA Calls for Public Cooperation
The Somali government has urged citizens to maintain vigilance and cooperate closely with security forces, emphasizing the importance of public awareness in counterterrorism efforts. Authorities have warned of heightened risks posed by extremist networks targeting civilians across Somalia’s urban and rural areas.
