Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi spoken for the first time about the removal of people from southern Somalia, most of them from the South West region.

Muse Bihi announced that the reason why the Somalis were removed from the region was because his administration could not ensure their safety, whilst in Somaliland. This is in contrast to what other Somaliland officials had previously said, which was that they posed a security risk to Somaliand.

According to the regional leader “they could not carry their weight of their properties safely and economically. We loaded more than 30 vehicles, and we paid $ 1,300 for each vehicle and even loaded medicine,” He also went on to say that the vehicles deported people from the South West in Las Anod were escorted by security forces until they reached the border with Puntland.

Mr Bihi further elaborated, “The other regions you are talking about say we welcome (those people) in Somalia. We say they have been there for 30 years and none of them have been killed in Somaliland and no property has been looted.”

We respect their human rights in contrast to “Puntland, which has been beating the drums, arrested 17 children in one day and said they had sentenced them to death. Muse Bihi said.

The president of Somaliland has accused the Somali government officials of neglecting their people who are being massacred every day in Mogadishu.

“I do not speak to Mogadishu and I do not have the language to speak to them. Mogadishu is where human blood is often spilt without remorse.” he stated. He went on to say, “The most oppressed people are from the South West.”

Lastly, he said that the deportation of these people is being exaggerated and he argued that they have been evicted from their areas in a good and humane manner and that they have spent a lot of money on their removal.
