Elon Musk’s SpaceX and T-Mobile are collaborating to connect mobile devices via a network of satellites, offering coverage to even the most remote locations.

T-wireless Mobile’s network would be delivered through SpaceX Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit under the plan.

T-Mobile stated that the great majority of smartphones now connected to its network will be compatible with the new service by utilising the device’s existing radio.

Beginning with a beta in select places by the end of next year, the businesses hope to deliver text service, including SMS, MMS, and partnering messaging apps, practically everywhere in the continental United States, Hawaii, sections of Alaska, Puerto Rico, and territorial waters. They intend to provide voice and data coverage eventually.

T-Mobile and SpaceX have stated that they are ready to collaborate with other carriers to help spread the service globally.

“The significant thing about this is that it means there are no dead zones for your cellphone anywhere in the world,” Elon Musk said on Thursday during a live event at a SpaceX facility in Texas.

The billionaire and Tesla CEO, who is embroiled in a legal dispute with Twitter, underlined that one of the service’s primary benefits will be its ability to assist individuals in life-threatening circumstances in remote places, perhaps saving lives.
