Somali Magazine – May Allah have mercy on Somali poet Mohamed Warsame Hadrawi, who died today in Hargeisa.
Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame Hadrawi was born in 1943 and is a well-known Somali poet and songwriter. Many consider him to be the greatest Somali poet alive today, and he has written a number of well-known protest poems. Hadrawi’s poetry has been translated into numerous languages, and he has been compared to Shakespeare by some.
Hadwari died this morning, August 18, 2022, in Hargeisa, Somaliland’s capital.
