    – The poet Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame Hadrawi, who passed away in Hargeisa on Thursday at the age of 79, has received condolences from the Somali people from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, and parliament speakers.

Hadrawi, according to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is a cornerstone of the Somali artistic scene and has significantly contributed to the growth of the Somali language and literature. Hadrawi, according to Mohamud, was a representation of harmony and serenity, and his passing was felt in every Somali family.

Poet Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame Hadrawi was one of the role models of the Somali community who made efforts to educate the community and develop the intelligence of the Somali people,” the president said.

Prime Minister Hamza Barre also extended his condolences to all the family, relatives, the art and literature community and the Somali people and asked Allah to grant him his Jannah.

Speakers of the Lower and Upper Houses of the parliament, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nuur Madobe and Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, said in separate statements that the poet was the center of Somali art and poetry and played a significant role in raising public awareness and encouraging nationalism.

Millions of Somalis were moved by Hadrawi’s insights into love, faith, and nationalism. Over 200 poems make up his body of work, which transcends political, tribal, and economic levels. Shakespeare is to the English what Hadrawi is to many Somalis.
