On Saturday, the Somali diaspora in the United States met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
President Mohamud spoke to the audience about the developing economic opportunities in Somalia, the plans to build government facilities, and the conflict with Al Shabaab.
The creation of jobs for young people, economic growth and investment in the nation, and intergroup harmony are all priorities for the federal government of Somalia, he continued.
The President expressed his hope that the Somali diaspora would keep funding the nation’s development and said that their contributions could have a positive effect.
The ethos of his government, “Somalia at peace with itself and the world,” is a crucial component of its foreign policy, according to Mohamud.
One of the largest Somali diaspora populations in the western hemisphere resides in America.
The United States has provided the Somali military, including its elite Danab Special Commando Brigade, with security assistance totaling more than $2 billion since 2009.
