    – On Saturday, the Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni and the President of Somalia’s Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Gara’ad Port in the Mudug district of Puntland.

The community- and privately-funded, multimillion-dollar Gara’ad port project got underway in 2020. 40,000-ton container ships can dock at the Indian Ocean’s new deep-water cargo facility.

As a symbol of Somalia’s tenacity for cooperation and prosperity, President Mohamud commended the Puntland community on the port’s completion.

“Today is a lovely day to show one another and Allah gratitude. All progress is based on harmony and peace. In general, the residents of this area and Puntland have shown bravery and a commitment to hard work, serving as an example of what is possible when we join forces. This project’s achievement belongs to all of Somalia “declared President Mohamud.

The sixth deep-water facility in the Horn of Africa nation with access to the Indian Ocean is the Gara’ad port.

The people of Puntland and everyone who helped with the inauguration of the Gara’ad port were congratulated by the American embassy in Mogadishu.

The embassy stated, “Somalia demonstrated its commitment to economic development with unity and cooperation.

Aden Barre Duale, the soon-to-be Kenyan defense minister, Mustafe Omer, the president of Ethiopia’s Somali region, and Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed, the leader of South West State, all attended the ceremony.
