    Somali aviation authorities confirm the crash of a Trident Aviation aircraft en route to Mogadishu, with investigations underway

    A tragic plane crash near Mogadishu, Somalia, has claimed the lives of five people. Somali aviation officials confirmed that a DHC-5D Buffalo aircraft crashed about 24 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu on Saturday evening.

    The aircraft, identified as 5Y-RBA, was operated by Trident Aviation Ltd. It was traveling from Dhobley Airport to Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu when the crash happened at around 5:43 p.m. local time (14:43 UTC).

    According to a statement from the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), all five people on board lost their lives. Authorities expressed their condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.

    Right after the crash, emergency response teams, including Somali government agencies and international partners, rushed to the scene to begin search and recovery efforts.

    The crashed aircraft, a DHC-5D Buffalo, is a strong and reliable plane designed for short takeoff and landing (STOL). It was originally built for military and humanitarian missions and is often used in difficult or remote areas.
