Somalia’s Attorney General has launched a criminal investigation into allegations that the Turkish Airlines station manager at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport abused his authority and violated the rights of a Somali traveler. This move follows a formal complaint filed by Abdifitaah Ahmed Hussen, widely known online as Somali Gamer, who says he was stopped from boarding a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight under unlawful and unjust circumstances.
According to Abdifitaah, the incident began after he had already completed all the required airport procedures, including security checks and immigration clearance. He said that despite following the correct process and having a valid ticket, the station manager, Turhan Kenmen, allegedly played a direct role in preventing him from boarding. In a video that spread quickly across social media, Abdifitaah claimed that the station manager ordered his detention and had him removed from the passenger manifest without a valid reason. He described the experience as arbitrary, humiliating, and deeply distressing, especially because he was given no clear explanation for why he was denied travel.
The Attorney General’s Office confirmed on Monday that it received Abdifitaah’s complaint and has now moved the case into a formal legal phase. Officials stated that an investigation is underway to determine whether the actions of the station manager were unlawful and whether the traveler’s constitutional rights were violated. The office noted that once the investigation is completed, the findings will guide the next legal steps, which may include disciplinary action, criminal charges, or further judicial review.
In its statement, the Attorney General’s Office emphasized that the case will be handled strictly under Somali law and in full respect of the constitution. Officials underscored that when citizens report violations of their rights—especially incidents involving intimidation, abuse of authority, or unlawful detention—they must be guaranteed legal protection and a fair process. The office said that the integrity of the justice system requires ensuring that individuals who come forward with complaints are heard and that their claims are investigated without bias, regardless of the alleged offender’s position or nationality.
Following Abdifitaah’s public accusations, many Somali travelers came forward online to share their own experiences involving the same Turkish Airlines station manager. Some described being treated unfairly, spoken to disrespectfully, or removed from flights without proper explanation. Others claimed they faced harassment or felt targeted based on unclear or inconsistent rules. These accounts sparked widespread debate on social media, with many calling for greater accountability from international airlines operating in Somalia and stronger protections for passengers.
The growing public attention has increased pressure on Turkish Airlines to respond. So far, the airline has not issued any comment regarding the allegations against its station manager. The silence has added to frustration among Somali travelers, some of whom say this is not the first time complaints have been raised about the airline’s conduct in Mogadishu. Others have urged authorities to ensure that foreign companies operating in Somalia respect local laws, safeguard traveler rights, and maintain transparent and professional customer service standards.
The case continues to attract significant interest as Somalis wait to see the outcome of the Attorney General’s investigation. For many, the incident has become more than a single complaint—it represents a broader demand for fair treatment, accountability, and dignity for all travelers using the country’s main airport. The Attorney General’s Office has pledged to conduct a thorough review, reinforcing its message that no one is above the law and that Somali citizens must be protected from any form of abuse or misuse of authority.
