Uhuru’s comments on the Raila attack are regrettable, according to a member of Parliament.

Caleb Kositany, a Soy MP, has called on the police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the event in which ODM leader Raila Odinga was stoned and bring those responsible to justice.

The MP also chastised President Uhuru Kenyatta for “sensationalizing” the affair after recording his statement on the incident on Sunday.
He believes that the president should rise above petty politics and serve as a unifying force.

“I want to remind the president that we all voted for him, and he has the authority to protect us all, therefore he should rise above petty politics and be the president that we elected. For those of us who voted for him, his comment today (Sunday) is unfortunate for those of us who voted for him and we want to tell him that he can do better than that,” he said

Kositany also encouraged the police to treat all election-related incidents with the same seriousness.

At the Nakuru DCI Headquarters, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, Kositany, and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat made statements about the stoning of Odinga’s chopper.

The three spent most of Sunday in the DCI offices in Nakuru, where they were interrogated about their alleged role in the event, which was described as a threat on the former premier’s life.

Sudi denied any role in the incident after the comments were recorded, stating he could never be involved in the preparation of such a primitive act as the stoning of the former Prime Minister.

He also questioned why the DCI had to summon them to Nakuru whereas they could have recorded their statements in Eldoret or any other place nearer.

“It is unfathomable to even imagine that me Oscar Sudi can be involved in planning such a barbaric act. I want to tell the public that this is just politics and they should remain peaceful and let the police do their job,” Sudi said.

“My other appeal to the DCI is not to misuse public resources, because we have a police station in Eldoret, Langas, Burnt Forest and even Kapsaret where we could have answered the same questions that they have asked us here in Nakuru. Although they’re doing their job, they should consider such issues.”

The three have also left their mobile phones with DCI so that they can undergo a forensic audit.
