The Israeli army announced on Monday that it had conducted over 500 raids on sites throughout the Gaza Strip overnight.

According to an Israeli army statement, it carried out airstrikes and artillery fire against more than 500 Hamas and Islamic Jihad sites in Gaza.

“Overnight, IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) fighter jets, helicopters, aircraft, and artillery struck over 500 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip,” a statement from the Israeli military claimed.

Furthermore, the Israeli army assessed that between 800 and 1,000 armed Palestinians infiltrated Israeli territory on Saturday morning through 80 holes on the border with Gaza.

It went on to say that Palestinian fighters assaulted 20 Israeli settlements and 11 Israeli military bases in the Gaza Strip.

Early Saturday, the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel, launching a barrage of rockets. According to the statement, the surprise attack was carried out in retaliation to the takeover of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and rising Zionist brutality.

According to the Israeli Health Ministry, at least 700 Israelis were killed and another 2,300 were injured in the attack.

In reply, the Israeli army launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in Gaza, killing 413 Palestinians and injuring at least 2,300 more.
