Somali Magazine – Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has undergone successful shoulder surgery in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to the office of the president.

The president is reportedly recovering well from the “minor” medical operation. His office did not provide further details about what happened to his shoulder. However, the successful completion of the surgery and the positive reports about the president’s recovery have been a source of relief for the people of Somalia.

During his stay in Abu Dhabi, President Mohamud also met with top Emirati officials. The details of these meetings have not been disclosed, but it is speculated that they revolved around strengthening the ties between Somalia and the UAE. The UAE has been a significant partner for Somalia, providing aid and support in various sectors.

Following his recovery, President Mohamud traveled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Saudi-Africa summit. The summit, which saw the participation of leaders from across Africa, aimed at enhancing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and African nations. President Mohamud’s presence at the summit underscored Somalia’s commitment to fostering strong relations with its international partners.

Since his re-election last year, President Mohamud has traveled to several countries, including Gulf nations, to seek support for his government’s offensive against al-Shabab. Al-Shabab, a militant group, has been waging a long-standing insurgency against the Somali government. The group has carried out numerous attacks in Somalia, causing widespread devastation and loss of life.

This event underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Somalia as it navigates political instability and security threats. As the world watches, Somalia continues to demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity. The nation’s leadership, represented by President Mohamud, remains committed to ensuring peace and stability in the country.
